Look at this list of NFL teams on BYE last week, what do they have in common?

10/20/2011 5:30:01 AM by Hoja Verdes
Bye Week Teams: Denver, Tennessee, Kansas City, Arizona, San Diego, Seattle

All of them except one (SDG) have something in common: they are widely regarded as the dregs of the league, 'the suck' of the NFL so far this year. TN even has a 3-2 record and the vast majority of gamblers would happily say 'they blow, bad team."

I think this will be the week that the sportsbooks take a stack of money off the table as more than a few of the public darling teams fail to cover. In summary...lots of high scores and plenty of blowouts...

I challenge any poster to a head-to-head 1-day ncaab contest: 400 points

1/29/2011 4:46:31 AM by Hoja Verdes
Rules:

1. 400 point entry fee each, winner take all.
2. Pick any 5 ncaab games tomorrow (sides only) ATS. Each one of us can play any game available at BetCris, line used will be the line that is available at 10am CST; All plays must be posted before 10:30am CST (or before the game starts, whichever is earlier, obviously). Therefore if you want to play a game that is -5 when you post it at 10:19am, but you see that it was -4.5 at 10am, you will use the -4.5 as your line.
3. 4 out of the 5...

Want to take a moment to give JUSTBET a very positive review

Signed up there this past Summer to take advantage of a nice freeplay for first deposit ($500) that Nathan/Sharky was giving some of the guys on this board. Had some issues with my debit card but figured them out with the very competent customer service guys on the phone. They got me up and running just in time for me to hit the NBA total I wanted to use the freeplay on, which won. Very good vote of confidence for them right there at the beginning. Many books would have bumbled around for days trying to...

WagerHub...Is there any update from them or input from SBR???

I know this technically goes in the 'Sportsbooks and the Industry" subforum, but I was hoping for a better response here.

There's a lengthy thread in the subforum that started with their no-deposit $300 freeplay bonus and progressed over the past couple months as that promo ended and others began. The pay-outs, though not 'next day' as advertised, seemed to be pretty reliable, and overall people had good feedback about their general quality as a book. It was made clear that they are new and thus not rated by SBR, which is always a risk of course, but they...

People who say "Texas would've won with McCoy"...here's how you respond:

We'll no doubt be hearing a lot of that over the coming weeks as the crybabies start their crying.

My retort, summarized:

Anyone who would say such a thing is motivated by one of three reasons:

1. They had money on Texas and need an excuse for losing.
2. They hate/envy Alabama (Auburn fans for example), or are Texas fans.
3. They simply don't know a whole lot about the game of football.

Regardless, the reasons this crybaby statement are invalid are as follows:

1. If Texas would have won with their backup guy, Failbert, would it have been ok for Alabama to say "we would...

My definitive Dr. Bob thread...come one, come all.

I'll break it down for everyone here...

Dr. Bob is one of the most controversial topics in our hobby/industry, so I thought I'd just deliver straight facts for everyone here in a simple unbiased manner.

FACTS:

Dr. Bob is a better handicapper [going by "honest' units bet (all bets accounted for)] over any 5+ year period in the last 20 years than the majority of the people on this board.

Dr. Bob is one the VERY few paid touts that actually has the numbers to back up the simple claim of all touts: "over time my bets will win you money and qualify as...[/going by "honest' units bet (all bets accounted for)]

I knew the smart money would hit Miss. State +13.5 (vs. Bama) early [w/ analysis]...

Pinny just moved from +13.5 -109 to +12.5 -109.

Mississippi State is coming off their bye week, have a stud RB in Anthony Dixon (252 yds and 2 TD's last game vs. Kentucky), and will try to eat clock, maintain possession, and pound the ball all game. Bama of course will have a similar gameplan behind Mark Ingram, and will also have Greg McElroy on a short leash as he's proven that he's not a deep threat and has been badly overthrowing and missing open receivers on passes of more than about 25 yards.

Miss. State will hang in this game...
